Through my countless years
of travel and mentoring others I have constantly heard the lament,
“Why can’t my family see the big picture?” or
“Why don’t they get it?” Hopefully, by now you
have come to understand that many family members don’t believe
in the power of dreaming. They don’t believe in ‘the
big picture’ anymore because they lost the ability of being
able to dream and focus on possibilities years ago. They fear that
if they started to dream again, that they would fail or be disappointed.
Because they’ve lost the ability to dream, they’ve given
up the will to fight!
You can’t help them dream, nor must you let
them stop YOU from dreaming. You must not allow yourself to become
frustrated by the fact that they can’t see the big picture.
No matter how much explaining you do, no matter how superb your
skills at presentations, no matter how motivational you are - if
they’ve forgotten how to dream, then they are no longer dreamers.
You can’t live their dreams for them, nor can you make their
dreams come true. You can’t go around living dreams for other
people. They have to live their own dreams and you have to get on
with yours. Don’t spend your energy on convincing others;
use it to strengthen your own convictions.
